Carroll College has announced a new strategy aimed at expanding its online and hybrid educational offerings while maintaining its traditional on-campus programs. The plan is designed to serve a broader range of students, including adult learners, working professionals, transfer students, and those seeking graduate education.
The college’s Board of Trustees developed the vision in collaboration with campus leaders and advisors. The approach incorporates feedback from the community and focuses on serving both Montana residents and learners beyond the state.
Bishop Austin Vetter, Co-President of Carroll College, stated, “This is an exciting new direction that will complement our traditional programs and extend Carroll’s formative education to learners we have not been able to serve fully in the past. I am thrilled that we will be able to reach more students and share our Catholic values.”
Dr. Jennifer Glowienka, Co-President, added, “We are aiming to meet learners where they are, on campus, online, and in graduate pathways, while preserving what makes Carroll exceptional. By pairing flexible formats with quality academics and personalized support, we will open doors to serve more students and ensure Carroll thrives for generations to come.”
The initiative builds upon several existing programs such as the Master of Social Work degree, an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing track completed in 15 months, a Certificate in Financial Planning, a hybrid cybersecurity program, and a developing Physician Assistant program. These efforts are intended to provide accessible education focused on practical outcomes for students preparing for careers that address current workforce needs.
According to Dr. Joyce Stewart, Chair of the Board of Trustees: “This direction offers a clear sense of purpose, rooted in Carroll’s mission, while opening new pathways for growth, innovation, and access. It provides the framework for our next strategic plan and positions Carroll to serve learners, our community, and the common good well into the future.”
The expansion aims not only to enhance academic opportunities but also to support workforce development across Helena and Montana by creating partnerships with local employers and helping graduates pursue careers within their communities.
Carroll College remains committed to its Catholic mission as it implements these changes.
