Carroll College announced on Mar. 25 that the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) has reaffirmed its accreditation through 2032, following a comprehensive evaluation of the institution’s effectiveness.
Accreditation is important for colleges as it confirms that they meet established standards for academic quality, student success, and operational effectiveness. This process assures students and stakeholders that the education provided meets recognized benchmarks.
The NWCCU’s evaluation included a self-study by Carroll College and a multi-day campus visit in Fall 2025, during which peer reviewers met with faculty, staff, students, and trustees to review academic programs and operations. The commission issued four formal commendations to Carroll: mission-centered innovation; strategic leadership and transparency; enrollment growth and access; and holistic student development. Specific initiatives noted include the creation of new faculty positions focused on mission-driven work, campus-wide programs such as Laudato Si, efforts to improve communication across campus, scholarship programs aimed at increasing enrollment retention, as well as support structures like mentoring teams.
“This reaffirmation is a true reflection of the hard work and commitment of every member of the Carroll community including our faculty, staff, and students alike,” said Carroll President-elect and Interim Co-President Dr. Jennifer Glowienka. “We are incredibly proud of what we have built together, and this recognition affirms that we are fulfilling our mission at the highest level. In addition, we are grateful for the trust the NWCCU has placed in Carroll College.”
The commission also provided recommendations for further improvement in areas already identified by college leadership as priorities for ongoing development. “Accreditation is ultimately about our students and the quality of education they receive here at Carroll. This outcome speaks to the strength of our programs and the people behind them. We will continue building on this momentum as we work through the recommendations ahead,” said Carroll Interim Co-President Bishop Austin Vetter.
Upcoming milestones for Carroll College include an Ad Hoc Report with Virtual Visit in Fall 2027, a Mid-Cycle Review in Fall 2028, followed by another full evaluation in Fall 2032.
