Congressman Troy Downing, a U.S. Representative, shared several updates on his social media account in early January 2026, addressing topics ranging from international affairs to local sports and healthcare reform.

On January 3, 2026, Downing commented on recent U.S. actions toward Venezuela and its leadership. He stated, “Venezuela is a fake narco-state and Nicolas Maduro was a complicit narco operator, both of which posed a direct threat to the health and safety of the American people. This morning’s targeted operation put the world on notice that the United States will respond with force to”.

Two days later, on January 5, 2026, Downing posted about attending an event supporting Montana State University’s football team ahead of their championship game. He wrote, “Among 7,000 @MSUBobcats_FB fans cheering on the blue and gold ahead of tomorrow’s FCS championship game. Incredible atmosphere in Nashville. Time to bring it home, Cats!”

Later that same day, Downing referenced a recent interview discussing healthcare policy: “ICYMI: I sat down with Tom Schultz on @VoicesofMT to discuss the real factors driving up healthcare costs, the reforms we just passed in the House, and the path forward for the American healthcare system.”

Downing’s remarks regarding Venezuela come amid longstanding tensions between the United States and Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s government. The U.S. has previously accused Maduro’s administration of involvement in drug trafficking activities and has imposed sanctions while calling for democratic reforms.

His support for Montana State University’s football team highlights ongoing community engagement by elected officials at sporting events. The reference to recently passed healthcare reforms reflects ongoing debates within Congress over strategies to address rising medical costs and improve access to care.
