Congressman Troy Downing, who represents Montana in the U.S. House of Representatives and previously served as Montana State Auditor, shared updates on his recent activities through a series of posts on social media.

On April 15, 2026, Downing posted about his engagement with energy sector representatives: “Enjoyed catching up with representatives of Montana’s petroleum industry in DC. From exploration, to operation, to refinement, the Treasure State’s petroleum producers are bringing the energy and products to market that keep our great state moving forward.”

Later that day, he highlighted his efforts against financial fraud at the federal level: “As Montana State Auditor, I created a financial abuse specialist team to fight financial fraud. Now, I have the opportunity to take this fight to Washington. Watch my questions to witnesses at today’s @FinancialCmte hearing on combatting fraud in our capital markets.” As Montana State Auditor before joining Congress, Downing established a specialized team focused on combating financial abuse.

On April 16, 2026, Downing described an interaction with students from local high schools: “One of my favorite parts of the job is talking to Montana’s next generation about their government. Yesterday, I got to do just that with students from Baker and Dodson High Schools. Thank you all for stopping by!”

Montana’s petroleum industry is a significant contributor to the state’s economy through resource extraction and related sectors.
