Congressman Troy Downing, who represents Montana’s 2nd congressional district, recently shared updates from his activities in the state through a series of posts on social media.
On April 6, 2026, Downing celebrated Montana’s annual observance known as “406 Day,” referencing the state’s area code. He posted: “There’s only one Last Best Place. Happy 406 Day, MT-02!”
The following day, April 7, Downing highlighted his engagement with local conservation efforts. He wrote: “Kicked off my morning back home with Montana Land Reliance in Great Falls. Since 1978, MLR has partnered with Montana’s landowners to protect the agricultural lands, fish and wildlife habitat, and open spaces that define the Treasure State. Thanks for starting your day with me!” The Montana Land Reliance is a nonprofit organization that works with landowners to conserve working ranches and natural habitats across the state.
Later that same day, Downing met with staff at a key transportation hub in north-central Montana. He stated: “What a pleasure meeting with Great Falls International Airport Director John Faulkner and airport staff working around the clock to get Montanans from point A to point B.” The Great Falls International Airport serves as an important link for both passenger travel and cargo movement within the region.
Montana’s economy relies heavily on agriculture and tourism, making land conservation and transportation infrastructure significant topics for residents of MT-02. Congressman Downing’s recent posts reflect ongoing engagement with these sectors as part of his work representing constituents in Congress.
