WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) and Senator Mike Lee of Utah published an op-ed in Fox News outlining the Biden Administration’s failures to secure our southern border and urging the Senate to take up the House-passed Secure the Border Act.

“Weak border policies aren’t only impacting border communities – when our laws are ignored, every state becomes a border state,” Rep. Rosendale and Sen. Lee wrote. “States like Montana and Utah have seen an unprecedented flood of drugs and crime under President Biden’s leadership. The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Rocky Mountain Division, which covers Colorado, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming, seized over 5.8 million potentially deadly doses of fentanyl in 2022. That’s enough to kill the entire population of Montana five times over. Yet, Secretary Mayorkas continues to lie to Congress by claiming he has operational control of the border.”

On May 11th, the House passed HR 2, the Secure the Border Act, which would reinstate Trump-era immigration policies and return common sense leadership to the border issue. Congressman Rosendale and Senator Lee strongly urge the Senate to pass and the President to sign this important piece of legislation into law and get the crisis at our southern border under control.
