The Nursing Partners in Health program, designed for 200-level nursing students, offers hands-on clinical experience by pairing students with healthy senior citizens. Through a series of three visits, participants conduct assessments that cover physical, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual health. The program aims to strengthen students’ confidence and assessment skills while promoting therapeutic communication.
The initiative not only benefits students but also provides seniors the opportunity to support future nurses and develop intergenerational relationships. A thank-you reception was held earlier this week to recognize the seniors’ contributions. At the event, students shared their appreciation:
“Effort and consistency are the key to mastering a skill. Anyone can become a professional in their field if they are willing to put in the practice. Thank you for giving up your free time and allowing us to practice. Because of you, we are one step closer to achieving our goal of becoming great nurses,” said Clara Genger, sophomore from Belmont, MA.
“Your kindness strengthened the foundation of our education, and your willingness to help will ripple forward into the care we provide for others,” added Lauren Maykovich, sophomore from Monroe, WA.
This year’s program was led by Dr. Zuleyha Inceoz, Ph.D., MBA, MA, BSN, RN.
