Dear parents,

We have received several inquiries from concerned citizens about the girl who tragically lost her life last Thursday on Canyon Ferry Road.  Since the accident occured within District #9 and since she was a school age girl, many people are understandably upset that we may have lost one of our students.

The 10 year old girl, Addelyn Selvig, was actually a student from Clancy Elementary who was visiting her grandparents that evening.

Although Addy was not our student, this tragic accident has impacts throughout our community.  Many students may have known her outside of school.  Additionally, her mother, grandmother, and grandfather are educators who are well known to the EHPS staff.  Finally, one of our own teachers was on site after the accident providing first aid.

Our hearts go out to the entire Selvig family as they deal with this unfathomable loss.  This type of tragedy is difficult to understand or get past, and we can all use it as a reminder to slow down and watch out for children this summer.
