WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) honored the retirement of Highway Patrol Colonel Steve Lavin after over 30 years of service to Montana. In a heartfelt speech on the House floor, Rosendale expressed his admiration for Colonel Lavin, stating, "I rise today to recognize and congratulate Colonel Steve Lavin on his recent retirement from law enforcement with the Montana Highway Patrol after 32 years."

Colonel Lavin, a native of Helena, dedicated his career to serving the people of Montana, beginning with his education at Montana State University and later the Montana Law Enforcement Academy. Rosendale highlighted Lavin's long-standing commitment to public service, noting his tenure as a Major for the Montana Highway Patrol before his appointment as Colonel in January 2021.

Reflecting on their shared experiences, Rosendale acknowledged Colonel Lavin's service not only in law enforcement but also in the political arena, where Lavin represented Montana's 8th district in the state House of Representatives for four terms. Rosendale expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work alongside Colonel Lavin during their time in office.

As Colonel Lavin embarks on his well-deserved retirement, Rosendale extended warm wishes for a peaceful and enjoyable time ahead. "I wish Colonel Lavin a peaceful retirement fishing in Kalispell, he has certainly earned it," Rosendale remarked. In conclusion, Rosendale concluded his speech by stating, "With that, Mr. Speaker, I yield back."
