Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) has introduced legislation aimed at blocking the implementation of the Biden-Harris administration's Proposed Resource Management Plan Amendment and Final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for the Bureau of Land Management Field Office in Miles City, Montana. The proposed plan would end coal leasing in Miles City, shifting towards taxpayer-funded alternatives such as wind and solar energy, which have faced challenges in Montana's harsh weather conditions.
Rep. Rosendale emphasized that his legislation is intended to prevent job losses and ensure reliable coal-powered energy for Montanans. "The new Biden-Harris plan for ending mining in Miles City and beyond is fueled by Tracy Stone-Manning’s fantasy that the world doesn’t rely on coal," said Rep. Rosendale. "These actions will destroy the economy, jobs, and lives of Montanans and severely compromise our nation's power grid and security."
Rosendale criticized the push for wind and solar energy as heavily subsidized and intermittently reliable. He stated, "This is a heavily subsidized push for wind and solar energy that has been proven to be intermittently reliable at best! My legislation will halt this taxpayer funded experiment and return the Treasure State back to our historic mining roots."
