Congressman Matt Rosendale has introduced legislation aimed at overturning a Bureau of Land Management rule. The rule in question relates to the Record of Decision and Approved Resource Management Plan Amendment for the Miles City Field Office in Montana. This plan is set to end coal leasing, promoting alternatives like wind and solar energy.
Rosendale argues that these alternatives have been ineffective in Montana's harsh weather conditions. His bill seeks to maintain coal leasing, which he believes supports employment and reliable energy in the state.
"Biden’s attack on hard-working Montanans and the coal industry will not be tolerated," stated Rep. Rosendale. He questioned how many policymakers involved would be affected by the rule's outcome, suggesting a disconnect between decision-makers and those impacted economically.
