Carroll College and Benefis Health System have introduced the Commitment to Care program, aimed at supporting nursing students in their educational journey. This initiative offers eligible nursing students a $30,000 interest-free loan over four semesters, with an option for loan forgiveness if they work as registered nurses at Benefis after graduation.
Lauren Swant, Associate Professor and Director of Nursing at Carroll College, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: "As the Director of Carroll College’s Nursing program, I am excited to announce the launch of our Commitment to Care program in partnership with Benefis Health System." She emphasized that this effort not only helps reduce financial obstacles but also empowers students to focus on education while addressing healthcare needs in Montana.
The program targets third- and fourth-year undergraduate nursing students as well as those in Carroll's Accelerated Nursing Program. While working at Benefis post-graduation is not mandatory, doing so will allow graduates to benefit from loan forgiveness over four years.
This collaboration aims to tackle financial challenges in nursing education and address Montana's need for skilled nurses amid a national shortage. The initiative supports workforce development by making nursing education more accessible and affordable.
Carroll College has demonstrated excellence with a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX-RN exam over the past two years. The college's dedication aligns with Benefis Health System's mission to nurture future healthcare professionals.
