DREW TURIANO FOR CONGRESS issued the following announcement on July 6.
Kalispell Regional Healthcare is expected to acquire the Marias Medical Center and other facilities in the Shelby area. Toole County commissioners voted to accept a multi-million-dollar deal late last month.
Earlier this year, the county put out a request for a larger medical company to take over the county-run medical center and other facilities. Both Great-Falls based Benefis Health System and Kalispell Regional Healthcare put in proposals, but the Shelby Promoter reported commissioners ultimately decided to go with KRH.
The approved proposal says Kalispell Regional Healthcare plans to run the Marias Medical Center, Marias Care Center, Heritage Center and Brittan House.
The deal could be closed by the end of the year, according to KRH Chief Expansion Officer Cindy Morrison.
“So what will happen now is we'll go through several months of due diligence,” she said. “Basically what that is, is that's a deeper dive into all the types of information about Marias Medical Center.”
Morrison said the plan is to expand services at the Marias Medical Center, though those specifics still need to be hashed out.
KRH’s proposal also notes that it is in preliminary talks with medical facilities in Conrad and Cut Bank, with the hopes of forming a more regional healthcare system.
