WASHINGTON, D.C. – On June 6, 2023, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) introduced a bill that would ban the Department of Defense from using taxpayer funds to host or support adult cabaret performances.
“Anything that does not help our troops be the most effective fighting force on earth is a distraction and a waste of resources,” said Rep. Rosendale. “Drag performances on our military bases are another example of the Biden Administration promoting woke, leftist propaganda while neglecting their duty to protect the American people – which is why I’m proud to introduce this legislation.”

Recently, the Department of Defense has hosted several drag shows at military installations across the country. In June 2021, Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, Montana, hosted a ‘Drag Queen Story Hour’ for children. Additional drag shows have also been held at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada and on the USS Ronald Reagan. Congressman Rosendale has sent multiple letters to Department of Defense leadership on March 31st, April 25th, and May 8th demanding answers to why these programs are allowed to take place and what taxpayer money, if any, was used to fund them.

After months of pressure from Congressman Rosendale and other Congressional Republicans, the Department of Defense announced on June 1st that they will enforce their longstanding policy of not allowing drag shows on military installations. While Congressman Rosendale is pleased by this development, the enforcement of this policy should not be contingent upon the whims of whatever woke policies the Biden Administration wants to promote on any given day. Rep. Rosendale’s bill ensures that military resources will not be used to fund such woke events.

Current House cosponsors include Reps. Diana Harshbarger (TN-01), Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13), Dan Bishop (NC-08), Ryan Zinke (MT-01), Josh Brecheen (OK-02), Harriet Hageman (WY-AL), and Bill Posey (FL-08).
