GREAT FALLS, MT - Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) is demanding answers and transparency from the Biden Administration regarding the Chinese spy balloon that flew across Montana skies in February. Recent reports revealed that the Administration lied to Congress and the American people about the balloon and intentionally kept it a secret.

According to NBC News, the Chinese spy balloon utilized a U.S. internet service provider to communicate and collected sensitive military information and data on civilian infrastructure for days. Rep. Rosendale criticized President Biden's handling of the situation, stating, "Biden's handling of the Chinese spy balloon has been nothing short of a violation of the Constitution."

Rep. Rosendale sent a letter to Defense Secretary Austin immediately after reports of the spy balloon sighting, demanding answers regarding the information it had collected. He also called for the balloon to be taken down as soon as possible.

Expressing his concerns, Rep. Rosendale said, "I will not stand by and let the Biden Administration get away with this. The people of Montana deserve answers to this brazen espionage attempt by the Chinese Communist Party over our skies." To ensure that Montanans receive the answers they deserve, he is calling for the Biden Administration to hold a townhall in Great Falls.

Rep. Rosendale has been vocal about preventing adversarial countries like China from purchasing American farmland. Earlier this year, he introduced the Land and National Defense Act, which aims to safeguard American farmland from foreign ownership.

In recognition of the efforts made by Billings Gazette photographer Larry Mayer, who provided the first images of the spy balloon, Rep. Rosendale honored him with a Congressional Record in March.

The demand for a townhall in Great Falls is a crucial step towards holding the Biden Administration accountable for their actions and ensuring transparency regarding the Chinese spy balloon incident. Montanans deserve to know the truth about this violation of national security and the potential risks it posed to their state.
