Congressman Matt Rosendale (R-MT) has joined a bipartisan effort to investigate Chinese Communist Party (CCP) affiliated marijuana cultivation operations in the United States. Led by Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), Congressmen Jared Golden (D-ME), Senator Angus King (I-ME), and Congressman David Valadao (R-CA), this inquiry aims to address the direct threats posed by thousands of illicit Chinese marijuana growing operations.

The farms are predominantly located in states with legal marijuana programs, where illegal growers attempt to hide their operations within law-abiding communities. These operations not only endanger public safety, but also violate human rights, pose national security risks, and exacerbate the addiction crisis in the country.

In a letter addressed to Attorney General Merrick Garland, Congressman Rosendale expressed his concerns about the gravity of the situation. He stated, "Marijuana is a substance that is illegal to have, grow, or use federally. Allowing our greatest adversary to subvert our laws, bring drugs into our communities, then proceeding to turn a blind eye to it is an incredibly slippery slope which can lead to countless problems in the future. The United States should not stand for this criminal use of our valuable cropland to grow an addictive substance that will enrich our enemies."

The inquiry seeks information about the efforts undertaken by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to combat this growing criminal enterprise. With the involvement of Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX) and 45 additional Members of Congress, the letter emphasizes the importance of taking decisive action to address these illegal operations.

The bipartisan effort aims to protect the integrity of the legal marijuana industry in the United States and ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens. By investigating the CCP-linked marijuana cultivation operations, the inquiry aims to disrupt these illegal activities and prevent further harm to communities across the country.

As the investigation progresses, it is expected that the findings and actions taken by the U.S. Department of Justice will be made public. Efforts to combat this criminal enterprise will require close collaboration between federal agencies, law enforcement, and lawmakers from both sides of the aisle.

The fight against illegal marijuana operations linked to the Chinese Communist Party is an important step in safeguarding the nation's security and upholding the rule of law. By addressing this issue head-on, Congressman Rosendale and his bipartisan colleagues are working to protect the interests of the American people and ensure a safer future for all.
