WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) participated in the House Natural Resources Committee, Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee Budgetary Hearing titled: “Examining the President’s FY 2025 Budget Request for the United States Geological Survey and the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement.” During the hearing, Rep. Rosendale scrutinized budget requests and highlighted their potential impact on Montana’s economy.

“It is crucial for Montanans that federal agencies are benefiting our constituents rather than threatening their livelihoods,” said Rep. Rosendale. “The OSMRE has recently further delayed the proposed completion dates of EIS’s or supplemental EIS’s for the Montana mines of Bull Mountains, Spring Creek, and Rosebud. These delays have pushed the EIS completion dates beyond the point where the mines have enough permitted coal to continue their operations. OSMRE continues these delays contrary to representations they have made to the federal courts, risking serious economic destruction to Montana.”
