WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) has issued a statement rejecting ongoing efforts by the Senate and President Joe Biden to expand In vitro fertilization (IVF) practices nationwide.

“I can only imagine the emptiness that a couple feels when they discover their inability to produce a child,” said Rep. Rosendale. “However, by expanding IVF nationally, not only are the federalist principles our country was founded on being ignored, but a death sentence is being penned for hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of children. It is sickening that the annual death toll of IVF embryos is not meticulously recorded despite extinguishing so many lives daily. If you believe that life begins at conception as I do, there is no difference between an abortion and the destruction of an IVF embryo.”

According to CDC data, more than twice as many lives are either created and left frozen or discarded every year through IVF compared to abortions performed annually by Planned Parenthood. The total number of discarded IVF embryos remains widely disputed due to the lack of traceable record-keeping.

Rep. Rosendale advocates for focusing efforts on treating infertility rather than increasing access to IVF. He believes states should have the authority to regulate and restrict IVF access. The Senate’s Right to IVF Act, supported by President Biden, imposes a national policy that overrides state regulations.
