The City of Helena is considering changes to its Land Use Fees, which will be reviewed by the City Commission in August. A public hearing on the matter is scheduled for August 12 at 6 p.m. The fees, part of the Community Development Department’s budget, have remained unchanged for over 27 years.

A draft of the proposed changes was presented to the City Commission during an Administrative Meeting and a regular Commission Meeting in July. Prior to the August 12 meeting, the Community Development Department is seeking feedback from stakeholders. The update includes a proposed fee waiver process, and input from the development community aims to ensure this process is thoughtfully established.

Details of the proposed fees are available at www.helenamt.gov/Departments/Community-Development/Planning/Current-Projects. The website includes attachments presented to the City Commission that provide:

- Comparison of Helena’s Fees vs. Other Montana Cities

- Schedule of Fee Implementation

- Commission Presentation

Stakeholders are encouraged to contact Community Development Director Chris Brink with questions or feedback on the proposal. Director Brink can be reached at cbrink@helenamt.gov or 406-447-8445.
