Helena firefighters deploy to assist with California wildfires
The City of Helena Fire Department (HFD) has deployed three firefighters to California to support wildland fire efforts. Captain Robbie Bennett, Captain Louis Menghini, and firefighter/paramedic Jeffrie O’Neill departed on Monday, September 16, for a 14-day deployment, with additional days allocated for travel. The team drove HFD’s Type 5 wildland engine.

Public invited to participate in "Helena Forward" visioning workshops
The community is invited to help shape the City of Helena’s future by participating in an upcoming event for its Land Use Plan, known as Helena Forward. On October 2, the public can participate in a visioning workshop from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Helena Civic Center. The workshop will be interactive with maps available to draw and discuss ideas. It will be hosted by consulting firm Houseal-Lavigne.
