The City of Helena is set to host a second open house on January 30 to discuss the proposed Open Lands major projects for 2025. The event will take place at 5:30 p.m. in room 426 of the City County Building, located at 316 North Park Avenue, Helena, MT, and will also be accessible via Zoom.
During the session, city staff will present recommended projects along with project and environmental analyses. Public comments from a previous open house held on December 18 will be shared, and further public input on these proposed projects will be welcomed. The public can submit their comments until February 14, with the deadline being 11:59 p.m.
The list of recommended projects includes establishing nighttime closure hours for five trailhead parking areas and improving parking at Lower Arrowroot Trailhead. Other proposals involve rerouting sections of various trails such as Prickly Pear Trail and Meatloaf Trail, creating new connectors between existing trails like Entertainment Trail and Ascension Loop, and establishing a minimum grade trail connecting Eddye West Trail to the 2006 Trail.
