The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has introduced a new podcast titled "Talking Health in the 406." The series aims to share impactful stories and conversations centered around health issues and wellness.

Jennifer Van Syckle, a Health Education Specialist and host of the first series, stated, "All Montanans, their family, friends, and those visiting the state can learn from the messages in each episode."

The podcast features discussions on managing life's challenges, including chronic conditions. It highlights how community support plays a significant role in health and wellbeing. Van Syckle noted that topics such as diabetes are part of the focus. "It also spotlights topics which affect all of us, such as local Emergency Medical Services, living with disabilities, and air quality," she added.

Melissa House from Butte is featured as the first guest. Her episodes narrate her journey from being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in childhood to becoming a double organ transplant survivor. She discusses how community resources helped her manage her condition successfully.

"Talking Health in the 406" is available on various podcast platforms. More information can be found at http://TalkingHealthInThe406.mt.gov
