State health officials have announced that the Quaker Oats Company is recalling several types of granola bars and cereals due to potential Salmonella contamination. The affected products were available at various retail locations across Montana, including grocery stores, gas stations, and vending machines.
The recalled items were sold in different packaging forms such as singles, packages, and snack boxes with other brands. A detailed list of the recalled products can be accessed through the FDA's website.
Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause diarrheal illness. Symptoms typically include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps and usually appear six hours to six days after infection. Most individuals recover without medical intervention within four to seven days. However, young children, seniors over 65 years old, and those with weakened immune systems may experience more severe symptoms requiring medical attention.
Consumers who possess any of the recalled products are advised to dispose of them immediately. For further information or product reimbursement, contact Quaker Consumer Relations at 1-800-492-9322 or visit their recall page online.
As of December 15, 2023, there have been no confirmed illnesses linked to these products in Montana or elsewhere in the United States.
Further details can be found in the company's announcement dated December 15th, 2023.
