Approximately 30 students with disabilities will gather at Carroll College in Helena for the Montana Youth Leadership Forum (MYLF) from July 18 to 22. This event is organized by North Central Independent Living Services and funded through the Department of Public Health and Human Services' Vocational Rehabilitation and Blind Services Pre-Employment Transition Services program.

Participants from various locations, including Missoula, Great Falls, Bainville, Helena, Thompson Falls, Frenchtown, Dillon, Jefferson City, Corvallis, and Trout Creek will engage in activities designed to enhance their understanding of disability history and culture. This includes learning about the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The students will visit the Capitol on Tuesday, July 19 for a mock legislative session in the Senate Chambers from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Additionally, they will explore assistive technology such as alternative keyboards and adaptive video gaming equipment during a session on Thursday, July 21 from 1 to 2:15 p.m. at Carroll College's Trinity Hall lounge.

Throughout the week, participants will receive training on basic interviewing and work skills, coping strategies for stress management, advocacy workshops, and create Personal Leadership Plans aimed at improving their leadership abilities.
