Small businesses in the Headwaters region are eligible for a grant thanks to a donation from NorthWestern Energy.

The $500 grants are offered through Butte Local Development Corp. and Headwaters RC&D. Businesses in Madison, Jefferson, Beaverhead, Butte-Silver Bow, Granite, Powell, and Anaconda-Deer Lodge counties can apply online by April 10, according to the Montana Standard

"We're looking to support businesses that not only help keep the Main Street of their community vibrant, but contribute to the community on all levels," Joe Willauer, the executive director of BLDC and Headwaters told the paper.

Grant winners will be notified by April 15 and will be ordered by impact and need.

NorthWestern Energy community works director Rick Edwards said because many small businesses are being impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, they wanted to free up resources to help.

In order to extend this program, Headwaters RC&D is looking for donations from private partners and other individuals.
