After receiving close to $2 million in added grants, Ravalli County will move forward with an extension of the airport in Hamilton, according to a county press release.

In a meeting on Sept. 14, county commissioners accepted two additional grants from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The grants complete the funding package to extend the Ravalli County Airport, which will allow the project to proceed without having to raise the money from local citizens.

“Before we came into this supplemental funding and some of the CARES Act funding, we were expecting a 10% local match on a $15 million Airport Improvement Project. About $1.5 million funded locally would have been difficult for us to do," Ravalli County Commissioner Jeff Burrows said in a press release“So weather dependent, but hopefully we'll get some of that that dirt work going this fall and then hit it again this spring and I think we're planning on trying to get the runway done summer of 2021."
