WASHINGTON, D.C. - In an effort to address the ongoing border crisis, Congressman Matt Rosendale of Montana and Congressman Brian Babin of Texas have introduced the Halt the Invasion Act. This new legislation aims to prevent the federal government from interfering with the State of Texas' border control measures in Eagle Pass, unless Texas consents to such actions.

According to Rep. Rosendale, the Biden administration has failed to secure the border, allowing terrorists, human traffickers, and gang members to freely enter the country. He believes that Texas has been left with no choice but to defend itself. The Halt the Invasion Act seeks to provide Texas with the necessary resources to combat the relentless flow of illegal border traffic and counter the efforts of Secretary Mayorkas to keep the flood gates open for migrants.

Congressman Babin, Co-Chair of the House Border Security Caucus, echoed Rep. Rosendale's sentiments, stating that the Lone Star State will not tolerate President Biden usurping state authority and exacerbating the border invasion. He emphasized that Texas has the constitutional right and sacred duty to protect its citizens, and the White House has no authority to use taxpayer dollars to undermine this right.

The Halt the Invasion Act includes several key provisions to address the border crisis. Firstly, it codifies Texas' authority to secure the border, giving the state the legal backing it needs to fortify its defenses. Furthermore, the bill defunds any federal government action that interferes with or attempts to regain control of Shelby Park, a crucial border area, without the consent of the State of Texas.

Additionally, the legislation stipulates that the State of Texas will be reimbursed for the costs associated with securing Shelby Park, as long as these costs do not exceed what it previously cost the federal government to maintain operations in the area. This provision aims to alleviate the financial burden on Texas while ensuring that the border remains secure.

In exchange for these provisions, the Halt the Invasion Act asks the State of Texas to provide data on illegal immigrant arrests, drug seizures, and other relevant information. It is important to note that Texas already makes this information available to the general public. This data will serve as a means to monitor the effectiveness of Texas' border control measures and will be required for the provisions of the bill to continue until Texas ceases to provide this information.

As the border crisis continues to escalate, Rep. Rosendale and Rep. Babin's Halt the Invasion Act seeks to empower Texas in its efforts to secure its border and protect its citizens. The legislation aims to prevent federal interference while providing the necessary resources and financial support to bolster Texas' border control measures. With the introduction of this bill, these two congressmen are taking a stand against the ongoing border invasion and advocating for the enforcement of the law and the protection of American lives.
