Dr. Lauren Swant, along with two students from Carroll College, Addie Butler and Kyla Dane, attended a significant event in Washington, D.C., on March 30-31, 2025. The visit was part of the annual American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Deans meeting and the 2025 Student Policy Summit.

Butler, a senior Nursing major, expressed her honor in representing Montana as a nursing student, stating, "Through this experience, I learned the importance of advocacy, leadership, and using a unified voice to influence positive change in healthcare... It deepened my awareness of how sharing personal experiences and collaborating with others can shape the future of nursing!"

Dr. Swant and the students advocated on behalf of AACN and Carroll College for continued federal support vital for the education and expansion of the nursing workforce. They were the only nursing student representatives from Montana Nursing Education present.

Dane, an accelerated nursing student, highlighted the significance of the experience, noting, "Having the opportunity to go to Washington, D.C., and advocate for fellow nursing students and fellow Montanans was incredible... I will cherish the things I learned and this whole experience forever!"
