WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02), led a letter with seven of his Republican colleagues to Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Director Steven Dettelbach inquiring about the shut down of the ATF eForm website, which occurred between February 27th, 2024, and March 1st, 2024. The website has proven to be a simple and effective method for Americans to access their right to own a firearm by significantly lowering wait times for ATF forms.
In response to this incident, Rep. Rosendale expressed his concerns, stating, “The Biden administration has declared a silent war on the Second Amendment.” He further emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the eForm service disruption, adding, “This problematic action by the ATF must be fully investigated to see if foul play was involved in eForm service disruption. My colleagues and I demand immediate action be taken to ensure the website continues to operate at full capacity.”
The letter to Director Dettelbach underscores the importance of maintaining the functionality of the ATF eForm website, highlighting its role in facilitating efficient access to firearm ownership rights for Americans. Rep. Rosendale and his fellow lawmakers are calling for swift measures to address the shutdown and restore the website to its full operational capacity.
The ATF has yet to provide a public response to the inquiry initiated by Rep. Rosendale and his colleagues, but the call for immediate action to rectify the situation is clear. As discussions surrounding firearms and Second Amendment rights continue to be contentious, the resolution of this eForm website shutdown remains a pressing issue for those advocating for streamlined processes in firearm ownership procedures.
