WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations passed Congressman Matt Rosendale’s (MT-02) bill, H.R. 6874, the VA WEB Act, which would direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to implement a process to monitor the VA website. This monitoring process would ensure Congress has proper oversight to improve the VA’s online experience so that our nation's veterans can efficiently receive and access the care they deserve.

"As the Chairman of the Technology Modernization Subcommittee, it has been my priority to ensure vigorous oversight of the VA’s enterprise technology modernization programs and projects," said Rep. Rosendale.

"My bill, H.R. 6874, the Watching Over Electronic Benefits Act, would address these problems by requiring the VA to implement a process to actively monitor the VA.gov website for any adverse events that would impact the facilitation, maintenance, or receipt of VA benefits," added Rep. Rosendale.

The legislation proposed by Rep. Rosendale aims to ensure that errors are identified promptly and improve Congress's ability to conduct proper oversight of the VA's online platform. Additionally, the bill would require a testing strategy by the VA to reduce the number of adverse events that may occur due to modifications or software updates.

"This would get to the crux of the issue by preventing problems before they occur and harm veterans," emphasized Rep. Rosendale.

The VA WEB Act, if passed, could potentially lead to a more seamless and efficient online experience for veterans seeking benefits and care through the VA's website.
