WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Chairman of the Veterans Affairs Committee Subcommittee on Technology Modernization Matt Rosendale (MT-02) held a hearing titled: “The VA Beneficiary Travel Self-Service System: Mission Accomplished?” In the hearing, Chairman Rosendale highlighted the failures of the Beneficiary Travel Self-Service System (BTS-3).
The BTS-3 system has caused complications leading to the removal of VetLink kiosks from most VA facilities. Chairman Rosendale attributed these issues to poor planning, misunderstanding of veterans’ needs, and general dysfunction.
“In reality, VA blindsided millions of veterans with a complicated and confusing new process,” said Chairman Rosendale. “I routinely hear from constituents who have expressed frustration with the new system and often are unable to get reimbursed on time if at all… We cannot allow another VA IT project—even a relatively small project—to escape scrutiny while it burns through taxpayer dollars and undermines veterans’ care.”
