WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) today questioned Under Secretary for Health Dr. Shereef Elnahal and Inspector General Michael J. Missal from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) during a House Committee on Veterans' Affairs hearing titled, "Accountable or Absent: Examining VA’s Leadership Culture Under the Biden-Harris Administration." Rep. Rosendale scrutinized the witnesses regarding the VA’s Program Integrity Tool and its issues with data integrity and accuracy.
“The Program Integrity Tool is a data repository that collects community care claims and payments from multiple sources. I am troubled by the fact that the Program Integrity Tool has been offline since February 21, 2023, due to data integrity and accuracy issues,” said Rep. Rosendale. “Now we have an independent life cycle cost estimate saying this project will cost $5.8 billion to finish. And we still don’t have proof that the new accounting system actually solves problems.”
