The Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) will host the 52nd Governor’s Conference on Aging as a virtual event on Tuesday, September 14. "We are excited the Governor’s Conference on Aging will be available once again to Montanans across the state," stated DPHHS Director Adam Meier. He added that the agenda would feature relevant and timely information and acknowledged the collaboration with Local Area Agencies on Aging to stream the conference at senior centers.

This year's theme is Communities of Strength: Be the Connection. The DPHHS is collaborating with AARP and the Montana Area Agencies on Aging Association (M4A) to provide access at various community senior centers. To find local participating locations for live streaming, Montanans can call (800) 551-3191 or check a list of local phone numbers. Participants may also register to attend from home.

Registration for the virtual conference is available at https://whova.com/web/mgca_202104/, with a deadline of September 5. Event organizers highlighted that the focus would be on senior centers and community enrichment, covering topics such as AARP Livable Communities, Alzheimer’s, caregiver support, fall prevention, suicide prevention, insurance programs, Social Security, fraud prevention, and housing. A virtual trivia game hosted by AARP will conclude the event.

A pre-conference event called the Aging Summit is scheduled for September 13 from 8 a.m. to noon. It offers older Montanans and interested adults an opportunity to engage with the Aging State Plan. Registration for both events is available at https://whova.com/web/mgca_202104/.

Additionally, DPHHS seeks information about Montanans who will turn 100 by December 31, 2021, or those already over that age. Centenarians or their representatives are encouraged to submit names and profiles by September 6 for recognition through local celebrations organized by Local Area Agencies on Aging. Submissions will receive a signed certificate from Governor Greg Gianforte.

Centenarian information should be sent to:
