Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) announced that in the coming months, Malmstrom Air Force Base will be receiving the upgraded MH-139A "Grey Wolf" helicopter in place of the dated Vietnam-era UH-1N "Huey" helicopter.
“I am proud to announce this much-needed upgrade for our airmen and women at Malmstrom Air Force Base,” said Rep. Rosendale. “With the “Grey Wolf’s” improved range, speed, and capabilities, we can rest assured that our servicemembers in the Treasure State are equipped with the best of the best!”
The multi-mission MH-139A "Grey Wolf" aircraft is intended to carry security personnel and government leaders while protecting intercontinental ballistic missiles. Compared to its predecessor, the Grey Wolf has a 50% increase in cruising speed and range, a 30% larger cabin, and the ability to lift an extra 5,000 pounds. It also features state-of-the-art avionics with full autopilot mode, state-of-the-art flight deck capabilities, and cheaper operating and support expenses, along with more flexibility and increased safety.
