Rep. Rosendale Recognizes VA Sec. Mcdonough and Under Sec. Elnahal for Assisting in Addressing Major Issues at Montana VA

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) expressed his gratitude to VA Secretary Denis McDonough and VA Health Under Secretary Shereef Elnahal for their effective leadership in addressing the major issues at the Montana VA Health Care System. In a House Committee on Veterans' Affairs hearing, Rep. Rosendale publicly thanked Sec. McDonough and Under Sec. Elnahal for conducting a comprehensive review of the Montana VA Health Care System and implementing necessary corrective measures to improve the system.

The review was initiated after Rep. Rosendale raised concerns about mismanagement at the Fort Harrison VA Medical Center. As a result of the review, the VA announced changes in leadership at the Montana VA Healthcare System. Rep. Rosendale commended the new leadership for their efforts in implementing changes that have led to improved care for veterans.

During the hearing, Rep. Rosendale expressed his appreciation for Sec. McDonough's responsiveness to his initial letter and for keeping his office informed throughout the process. He also acknowledged the hiring of an interim executive director and the involvement of outside help in fixing the Montana VA. Rep. Rosendale emphasized his commitment to ensuring that veterans receive the best healthcare possible and thanked Sec. McDonough and Under Sec. Elnahal for their partnership in these efforts.

Rep. Rosendale's recognition of the VA leadership's efforts comes as he serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans' Affairs Subcommittee on Technology Modernization. In a separate hearing titled "The Future of Data Privacy and Artificial Intelligence at VA," Rep. Rosendale discussed the impact of artificial intelligence on data privacy at the VA. He highlighted the importance of building a more reliable, secure, and efficient VA in light of the rise of AI.

These remarks by Rep. Rosendale reflect his dedication to improving the VA system and ensuring the well-being of veterans.
