In a disappointing turn of events, Congressman Matt Rosendale (MT-02) expressed his frustration when the articles of impeachment against Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Nicholas Mayorkas failed to pass on the House Floor. Despite alarming statistics such as 8 million illegal alien encounters nationwide, 6.7 million illegal alien encounters at the Southern border, and over 1.7 million known gotaways evading U.S. Border Patrol, House Republicans refused to hold Mayorkas accountable.
"Mayorkas has violated his oath of office time and time again by orchestrating the invasion taking place at the southern border," said Rep. Rosendale. "Sec. Mayorkas' open-border policies continue to jeopardize the lives of the American people and endanger our nation. He must be impeached! I am disappointed we didn't have the votes this evening in the House, but I am hopeful my colleagues will do the right thing when this resolution is brought forward again."
The frustration expressed by Rep. Rosendale stems from his belief that Mayorkas has failed in his role as Secretary of Homeland Security. The congressman highlights the increase in encounters with terrorists, criminals, and human traffickers at the borders, as well as the alarming amounts of drugs, including poisonous fentanyl, being seized daily.
The failure to impeach Mayorkas has left Rep. Rosendale concerned about the vulnerability of the country. He emphasizes the need for accountability and the protection of the American people.
While the impeachment articles did not pass this time, Rep. Rosendale remains hopeful that his colleagues will reconsider in the future. He urges them to "do the right thing" when the resolution is brought forward again.
The fate of Secretary Mayorkas remains uncertain, but Rep. Rosendale's persistence in holding him accountable serves as a reminder of the ongoing debate surrounding immigration policies and border security in the United States.
